45 block circle in Minecraft (radius 22)
A 45-block-wide circle takes 124 blocks for a 1-block outline and 1,597 to fill it. Go around each quarter in runs of 9·4·2·2·1·1·1·1·1·1·2·2·4·9. The centre is a single block, because 45 is odd.

| Diameter | 45 blocks (radius 22 from the centre block) |
| Outline, thin wall (diagonal steps) | 124 |
| Outline, thick wall (no diagonal gaps) | 176 |
| Filled disc | 1,597 |
| Flat edge on each side | 9 |
| 5-high tower wall | 620 · 9×64 + 44 |
Rule: a block counts when its centre lies inside the circle, the same grid the game uses. Checked 21 Oct 2026.
How to build it
- Mark the centre block. Count 22 blocks out from the centre block in all four directions and mark those four points.
- Place the four flat edges of 9. Centre each flat edge on one of the four points: 4 blocks either side of it.
- Fill each corner with 4·2·2·1·1·1·1·1·1·2·2·4. After each run, step one block diagonally inward and place the next run. Do the same in all four corners.
- Repeat for each layer. A straight wall is the same ring on every layer (a 5-high wall takes 620 blocks). A dome or sphere shrinks the ring as it goes up.
All 45 rows, north to south
Each row lists its runs of blocks from west to east; "2-2" means 2 blocks, a gap, then 2 blocks.

Questions
How many blocks is a 45 block circle?
124 blocks for a 1-block outline with diagonal steps, 176 for an outline with no diagonal gaps, and 1,597 for a filled disc.
Should I build 45 or 44?
45 is odd, so the circle has one centre block: doors, beacons and pillars line up with the middle. 44 has a 2×2 centre instead.
How many blocks for a 45 sphere or dome?
A hollow 45 block sphere with a 1-block shell takes 5,118 blocks; a hollow 45 dome (23 layers, open at the bottom) takes 2,597. Plan them layer by layer in the sphere generator or the dome generator.
Thin or thick outline?
A thin outline (124 blocks) steps diagonally, so mobs and water can slip through the corners. A thick outline (176 blocks) adds a block at every step, which makes a sealed wall.
