How to use it
4 steps
- Pick the diameter (3 to 256). Odd sizes have one centre block per layer.
- Pick the shell: thin (fewest blocks, still airtight), thick, or solid. Choose whole, half (a dome cut at the middle) or a quarter.
- Step through the layers with ‹ › or the [ and ] keys. The 3D view highlights the current layer in amber.
- Build or export: open build mode on your phone, print the A4 layer sheet, or download a schematic.
Questions builders ask
How many blocks is a 21 block sphere?
A hollow 21 block sphere with a 1-block shell takes 1,082 blocks over 21 layers; solid it takes 4,945. The widest layer (the middle) has 60 blocks.
How do I build a sphere layer by layer?
Start at the bottom layer and work up. Each layer is a circle or a filled disc; the stepper shows one layer at a time, the previous layer as a faint outline, and the count for that layer. On your phone, build mode splits each layer into quarters with big cells.
Should the shell be thin or thick?
A thin shell is airtight: no gap goes all the way through, and it uses the fewest blocks. A thick shell adds blocks where the steps touch only at an edge, so it also looks closed from every angle inside. Solid fills the whole ball.
Can I export a sphere to Litematica or WorldEdit?
Yes. Export a .litematic or .schem for Java, or an .mcstructure for Bedrock. A 31 block sphere is 2,382 blocks, small enough for one file in every format.
Why is there no single top block on an even sphere?
An even size (say 20) has its true centre between blocks, so the top and bottom are 2 × 2 or wider, not a single block. Odd sizes have one centre block and usually a small cap on top.
