- Pick hollow or solid. Hollow keeps the outside steps and is open underneath.

Questions builders ask
How many blocks is a 21 by 21 pyramid?
A hollow 21 × 21 stepped pyramid is 441 blocks over 11 layers; a solid one is 1,771 blocks. The top is a single block because 21 is odd.
How do I work out the blocks per layer?
Each layer is a square 2 blocks smaller than the one under it. A solid 9 × 9 pyramid goes 81, 49, 25, 9, 1 blocks per layer (9², 7², 5², 3², 1²). The generator shows every layer and its count.
How tall is a pyramid with a 31 block base?
16 layers. Each layer steps in one block on every side, so the height is half the base, rounded up. Hollow it is 961 blocks; solid it is 5,456.
What happens with an even base?
An even base like 20 × 20 ends in a 2 × 2 top instead of a single block, after 10 layers (1,540 blocks solid). Use an odd base if you want a pointed top.
Hollow or solid?
Hollow keeps only the outer steps, so you can put rooms, a tomb or a base inside, and it costs far fewer blocks. Solid fills the inside. Set the wall thickness to 2 or more for thicker walls.
