20 block circle in Minecraft
A 20-block-wide circle takes 56 blocks for a 1-block outline and 316 to fill it. Go around each quarter in runs of 6·2·2·2·2·6. The centre is a 2×2 square, because 20 is even.

| Diameter | 20 blocks (2×2 centre) |
| Outline, thin wall (diagonal steps) | 56 |
| Outline, thick wall (no diagonal gaps) | 76 |
| Filled disc | 316 |
| Flat edge on each side | 6 |
| 5-high tower wall | 280 · 4×64 + 24 |
Rule: a block counts when its centre lies inside the circle, the same grid the game uses. Checked 21 Oct 2026.
How to build it
- Mark the 2×2 centre. Count 9 blocks out past the 2×2 centre in all four directions and mark those four points.
- Place the four flat edges of 6. Centre each flat edge on one of the four points: 3 blocks either side of the centre line.
- Fill each corner with 2·2·2·2. After each run, step one block diagonally inward and place the next run. Do the same in all four corners.
- Repeat for each layer. A straight wall is the same ring on every layer (a 5-high wall takes 280 blocks). A dome or sphere shrinks the ring as it goes up.
All 20 rows, north to south
Each row lists its runs of blocks from west to east; "2-2" means 2 blocks, a gap, then 2 blocks.

Questions
How many blocks is a 20 block circle?
56 blocks for a 1-block outline with diagonal steps, 76 for an outline with no diagonal gaps, and 316 for a filled disc.
Should I build 20 or 21?
20 is even, so the centre is a 2×2 square: good for a 2-wide door or a 2×2 pillar. 21 has a single centre block instead.
How many blocks for a 20 sphere or dome?
A hollow 20 block sphere with a 1-block shell takes 968 blocks; a hollow 20 dome (10 layers, open at the bottom) takes 484. Plan them layer by layer in the sphere generator or the dome generator.
Thin or thick outline?
A thin outline (56 blocks) steps diagonally, so mobs and water can slip through the corners. A thick outline (76 blocks) adds a block at every step, which makes a sealed wall.
